Indian Peacekeepers Continue Aid for Displaced People in Abyei

Indian peacekeepers are helping people who had to leave their homes in Abyei.

They work with a United Nations mission called UNISFA.

The peacekeepers help provide basic services, education and community activities.

Abyei is an area between Sudan and South Sudan.

India also sends many women to serve in United Nations peacekeeping missions.

P. Harish said more than 160 Indian women peacekeepers are currently serving.

Women peacekeepers can help communities trust the mission and support vulnerable women and children.

India also trains women military officers from other countries for peacekeeping work.
