Ongole Rally Calls for End to Human Trafficking
A group of people in Ongole, a town in India, held a big meeting to talk about a bad problem called human trafficking.
Kalpana Kumari, a local official, said that traffickers trick people by promising love and jobs on social media.
She warned that many poor people are taken to other places and forced into bad jobs.
The rally was organized by many local departments and two NGOs, HELP and SARDS.
Kalpana asked everyone to meet every month to keep track of missing girls and women and stop trafficking.
Joint collector Kalpana Kumari led an awareness rally in Ongole on World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
The rally was organized by district Women and Child Welfare, Labour, Child Protection, Legal Services, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Disha police, and NGOs HELP and SARDS.
Kalpana Kumari highlighted that human trafficking is the world's second largest crime and traffickers use social media to lure victims with false promises of love and jobs.
She warned that poor people are trafficked to other states and abroad for forced prostitution.
