Kerala HC Upholds Order on Malayalam Film Haal
The Kerala High Court recently decided to keep a previous ruling that said only two changes needed to be made to a movie called Haal.
The movie is about a love story between a Muslim boy and a Christian girl.
Some people and groups didn't like the movie and asked for more changes, but the court said no.
The movie can now be shown in theaters with only two small changes.
The movie has songs by a famous singer, Atif Aslam, and will be shown in many languages.
The court said the movie makers can decide what to keep in their movie, and the groups who didn't like it can't force them to make more changes.
The Kerala High Court dismissed appeals against a single-judge ruling that quashed four of six cuts ordered by the Central Board of Film Certification to the Malayalam film Haal.
The film, depicting an interfaith love story, was originally scheduled to release on September 12 but was postponed due to certification issues.
The certification board had ordered six cuts, including a scene involving beef biryani, a dance sequence, the bishop's residence, and police interrogation scenes.
The filmmakers agreed to two cuts on their own, including the beef biryani scene and lines referencing the RSS and BJP.
The Catholic Congress of the Thamarassery Diocese claimed the film defamed the Thamarassery bishop and could disturb communal harmony, but the court dismissed their appeal.
