8th Pay Commission DA Hike Expected in 2026
The government gives extra money called Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees to help with rising prices.
This money is checked and sometimes increased twice a year.
The next check is coming in March 2026.
Right now, the extra money is 58% of the basic pay.
The government looks at something called the AICPI-IW to decide if this extra money should go up.
For the next check, they will look at prices from January to December 2025.
If prices go up a little, the extra money might go up to 60%.
This means employees will get a little more money, but not a lot.
The increase is expected to be around Rs 600 per month for someone earning Rs 30,000.
This is the smallest increase in seven years, so employees might not be very happy.
The central government will announce the DA hike for January-June 2026 before Holi in March 2026.
Current DA stands at 58%, and the expected hike is to 60% based on AICPI-IW data.
AICPI-IW for November 2025 is 148.2, with a projected increase to 148.7 for December 2025.
The average AICPI-IW for January-December 2025 is projected to be 145.58.
The expected DA hike of 2% is the lowest in seven years, resulting in a modest increase of Rs 600 per month for an employee earning Rs 30,000.
