Modi Urges India and China to Respect Core Concerns

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping in New Delhi.

They met during a large meeting of BRICS countries.

Modi raised India’s concerns about its relationship with China.

He said both countries should respect each other’s important concerns.

India described this approach as mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity.

A Chinese account said Modi’s positions on Tibet and Taiwan had not changed.

India recognizes Tibet as part of China and allows practical ties with Taiwan in areas such as trade and tourism.

The BRICS leaders also issued a statement about West Asia and condemned the 2025 Pahalgam massacre.
