Maharashtra FDA Raids 11 Thane Food Units, Seizes Materials

Maharashtra’s food safety department inspected 11 food units in Thane.

The units were in Khardi Village, near Bhaskar Compound.

Officials took away large amounts of food ingredients, prepared snacks and oil.

The seized items weighed more than 28,955 kilograms and were worth about Rs 20.48 lakh.

The department said it found concerns related to food safety enforcement.

It also said some eateries in different parts of Maharashtra had their licenses suspended for serious violations.

One Mumbai hotel was cited for cockroaches, poor transport conditions and injured food handlers.

Organizers serving food at large festival events must now notify the department at least seven days beforehand.

The FDA said it will continue taking action against businesses that break food safety rules.
