Indian Air Force Announces 2nd Edition of Sekhon Marathon 2026
The Indian Air Force is organizing a big running event called the Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon.
It will happen on 4 October 2026 at a big stadium in New Delhi.
The marathon is named after a very brave pilot named Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon.
He was a hero who protected India's skies during a war in 1971.
He fought many enemy airplanes all by himself and gave his life for his country.
Because of his bravery, he received India's highest award for courage, the Param Vir Chakra.
People can join a half marathon, a 10K run, or a 5K run.
There will also be skydivers and a special ceremony with prizes for the winners.
The event wants everyone to remember our heroes and stay healthy and active.
Last time, more than 45,000 people joined the marathon from 46 places across the country.
The Indian Air Force announced the 2nd edition of the Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon, to be held on 4 October 2026 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
The marathon is a national tribute to Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only IAF officer awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest gallantry award.
During the 1971 Indo-Pak War, Sekhon single-handedly took on six Pakistani Sabre jets at Srinagar Air Base in his Folland Gnat before making the supreme sacrifice.
Race categories include a certified 21.1K half marathon route around India Gate, along with 10K and 5K runs.
The event will feature the Akashganga Skydiving Show and an award ceremony where the Chief of Air Staff presents cash prizes, medals, and trophies.
The inaugural edition saw over 45,000 participants across 46 locations nationwide.
