Hathnikund Barrage Releases Water, Yamuna River Rises Gradually
The Hathnikund Barrage in Haryana released a lot of water into the Yamuna River over two days.
This made the river level rise in a step‑by‑step way.
The Central Water Commission says the water level in Delhi will slowly go up a little more over the next few days.
The river is still below dangerous levels, so it should be safe for now.
The rain in the area was a bit less than usual, which helped explain the changes in water flow.
Some river stations near Delhi are already above their warning limits, but the main river is still below the danger mark.
The Hindon River, another tributary, is also a bit high but not dangerous.
People are watching the water levels closely to keep everyone safe.
Hathnikund Barrage released water from 2,149 to 24,576 cusecs between July 28–29, causing a staggered rise in Yamuna levels.
Central Water Commission forecasts a gradual rise in Delhi's Yamuna water level from 202.2 m to 202.4 m by July 31, below warning and danger marks.
Upper Yamuna catchment rainfall was below normal, with 274.2 mm at Yamunanagar versus 303.1 mm average, contributing to discharge fluctuations.
Western Yamuna Canal, Panchkuan, and Ghodopipli stations exceeded warning levels, while downstream stations remained normal.
Hindon River stayed marginally above warning level (195 m) but below danger mark, with elevated levels expected to persist.
