Akhilesh Yadav launches PDA Rath in Raebareli, signaling alliance stakes
Akhilesh Yadav is the leader of the Samajwadi Party, or SP.
He started using a special vehicle called the PDA Rath in Raebareli.
PDA means backward, Dalit and minority communities.
He plans to use the Rath to travel across Uttar Pradesh before the 2027 state election.
Raebareli is important because Congress leader Rahul Gandhi represents it in Parliament.
The SP also has three of the five Assembly seats in the area.
Yadav said his party will continue working with Congress, but seats should go to candidates who are most likely to win.
He also visited after a clash involving SP student activists and ABVP members, which led to a magisterial inquiry.
Akhilesh Yadav launched the Samajwadi Party’s PDA Rath in Raebareli for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly campaign.
The SP said the visit included meeting Harchandpur MLA Rahul Lodhi after a September 17 clash involving SP student activists and ABVP members.
Raebareli is a Congress stronghold represented in the Lok Sabha by Rahul Gandhi, while the SP holds three of its five Assembly constituencies.
Yadav said the SP-Congress alliance would continue, but seat-sharing should prioritize candidates and constituencies with the strongest prospects of winning.
The PDA Rath promotes a coalition of backward, Dalit and minority communities through social-justice slogans and political imagery.
