Four Arrested in Rs 1.19 Crore Gurugram Insurance Scam
A man in Gurugram was tricked out of a lot of money.
Four people pretended to be insurance officials.
They told him they could help him get money back from old insurance policies.
They promised he would receive about Rs 1.04 crore.
But first, they said he had to pay many different fees.
He paid them around Rs 1.19 crore in total.
The money went into several different bank accounts.
Police arrested the four people and a court sent them to police custody for two days.
Police are still investigating the case.
Four people were arrested for allegedly tricking a Gurugram man into transferring about Rs 1.19 crore while posing as Insurance Ombudsman officials.
The accused promised to help the man recover Rs 57 lakh against his lapsed insurance policies and assured him he would receive around Rs 1.04 crore.
The victim was induced to pay file charges, maintenance charges, transaction charges, Full and Final (F&F) settlement charges and other fees.
The accused were produced before a city court, which remanded them to two days of police custody.
One accused allegedly opened a bank account using forged Aadhaar and PAN cards in the name of "Utsav Upadhyay," into which around Rs 43 lakh was transferred.
