Aizawl Residents Start Plastic Waste Buying Drive
People in a neighborhood called Chawnpui in Aizawl decided to clean up their streets.
They started a special project where they buy plastic trash from anyone who brings it to them.
They pay a little bit of money for each kilogram of plastic they collect.
This money comes from kind people in the community who donated money to help.
Lots of people, young and old, worked together to find plastic bottles and wrappers.
They hope this makes their neighborhood cleaner and teaches everyone to be more careful with their trash.
They also want to see if they can use the plastic to make new things later.
Residents of Chawnpui, Aizawl launched a 'plastic waste buying' drive.
The initiative aims to reduce plastic litter and promote responsible waste management.
Over 150 kg of plastic waste was collected and sold at Rs 30 per kg.
The drive is entirely community-funded, with over Rs 2 lakh raised through crowdfunding.
The collected plastic may be explored for recycling into useful items like construction materials or crafts.
