POWERGRID and Toshiba Launch India's First 220kV Mobile GIS
Imagine a big electrical system that helps power a city.
Sometimes, a part of this system needs to be fixed or moved quickly, especially if there's an emergency or not much space.
POWERGRID and Toshiba have created a special, mobile electrical station that can be moved around easily.
It's like a portable hub for electricity that's safe and reliable.
This new mobile station, called a 220kV m-GIS, can be set up and taken down quickly.
It helps make the power system stronger and ready for anything.
They are even planning to make a bigger, 400kV version soon!
POWERGRID and Toshiba have launched India's first 220kV Mobile GIS (m-GIS) system.
The system was manufactured in India and designed according to POWERGRID's operational needs.
Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) is used for efficient high-voltage power distribution, especially where space is limited.
The m-GIS system offers rapid deployment, enhanced grid flexibility, resilience, and disaster-readiness.
Toshiba will also produce India's first indigenous 400kV m-GIS system for POWERGRID, expected in August next year.
