India: Millions Unable to Travel by Train Due to Unconfirmed Tickets
Every year, many people in India can't take the train even after buying tickets because their seats aren't confirmed.
In 2024-25, over 3 crore people faced this problem, and it's getting worse each year.
The railway is trying to fix it by removing fake accounts and letting people know about their tickets sooner.
But the main issue is there aren't enough seats for everyone who wants them.
3.27 crore passengers couldn't travel in FY2024-25 due to unconfirmed tickets.
The number of passengers unable to travel has increased annually.
2.96 crore passengers couldn't travel in FY2023-24 due to unconfirmed tickets.
IRCTC has deactivated 2.5 crore fake or suspicious user IDs.
Passengers can now check waitlisted ticket status 24 hours before departure.
