Sebi to Float Consultation Paper on Corporate Bond Distribution

Sebi to Float Consultation Paper on Corporate Bond Distribution

India’s market regulator, Sebi, is preparing new ideas for how corporate bonds should be sold and distributed.

It plans to publish these ideas in a consultation paper within a few days.

A consultation paper lets people and businesses review proposed rules and share their opinions.

Industry groups have already suggested a framework to Sebi.

Maninder Cheema said public issues make up less than 1% of all bond issuance.

Online bond platforms help regular investors access bonds that were once difficult to find.

Technology can also help investors see a bond’s price, yield and other features.

Sebi says the system is still developing and could become more transparent and efficient.
