India's EV Boom: Charging Infrastructure Expands Rapidly
Electric vehicles are becoming more popular in India, helped by the government's new PM E-DRIVE scheme.
This scheme provides a large budget to support EV adoption, build more charging stations, and boost local EV manufacturing.
Delhi uses the most electricity for EV charging, followed by Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat.
The number of charging stations is increasing.
EVs already save a lot of fuel and reduce pollution every day.
Government's PM E-DRIVE scheme aims to boost EV adoption and infrastructure.
The scheme has a budget of Rs 10,900 crore from October 2024 to March 2026.
Rs 2,000 crore is allocated for public EV charging stations.
India used 763 million units of electricity at EV charging stations between April 2024 and February 2025.
EVs currently save approximately 15.5 lakh litres of fuel daily and reduce CO2 emissions by 22.6 lakh kilograms.
