Maharashtra Orders Konkan Crop Assessments, Insurance and Relief Aid

Maharashtra Orders Konkan Crop Assessments, Insurance and Relief Aid

Rainfall has stopped for long periods in parts of Maharashtra’s Konkan region.

This may have harmed crops such as rice, ragi, mangoes and cashews.

The agriculture minister told officials to visit farms and see the damage themselves.

They must write down accurate information about each affected farm.

This information will help decide how much support farmers should receive.

Farmers with crop insurance may get compensation more quickly after the required checks are completed.

Officials must also look at drinking water and animal fodder needs.

The government is asking several departments to work together to help farmers.
