Delhi Congress Protests, Demands CEC Resignation Over SIR Row

The Delhi Congress held a march about a review of voter lists called the SIR.

The party said many people’s names were removed or questioned during this process.

It said residents of poorer neighbourhoods had trouble showing the requested documents.

Congress leaders asked Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

They also wanted an independent check of the voter-list changes.

Congress accused the BJP of unfairly affecting elections, but this was the party’s allegation.

The report said two other election commissioners had raised objections about some SIR decisions.

Police and paramilitary personnel were placed near the protest locations.

The articles do not include a response from the Election Commission or the BJP.
