Mumbai to Get India's Largest Central Park
Mumbai is getting a huge new park called Central Park.
It will be the biggest in India, with lots of green spaces, gardens, and even an underground sports area.
The park will be built on the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and along the Coastal Road.
There will be places to play sports like basketball and cricket, and even a big forest to help clean the air.
The park will be connected to the Coastal Road by a long underground tunnel, and there will be lots of parking so people can visit easily.
The best part is that the old racecourse will stay the same, so people can still watch horse races while enjoying the park.
Mumbai's Central Park will span 295 acres, combining the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and Coastal Road area, making it India's largest urban park.
The project includes a 10 lakh square feet underground sports complex with facilities for various sports, including traditional Indian games like Kho-Kho and Kabaddi.
A 1,200-meter-long underground tunnel will connect the park to the Coastal Road for smooth traffic management, with a Rs 550 crore tender issued for its construction.
The park will feature a 12-acre city forest, 77 acres of gardens and open concert grounds, a 31-acre botanical garden, and a modern convention centre.
The historic racecourse and stables will remain untouched, allowing visitors to watch horse racing while enjoying the park's green spaces and pathways.
