Kerala Political Parties Oppose Voter List Revision Amidst Door-to-Door Campaign
In Kerala, officials have started a special campaign to update the list of people who can vote.
This is called the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR.
The people who help with elections, called Booth Level Officers, are going to people's homes to give them forms and pick them up.
The goal is to do this quickly so people don't have to make extra trips.
They are even planning to call people ahead of time or work with neighborhood groups to make it easier.
However, most political parties in Kerala are not happy about this.
They are raising concerns, mainly about when this is happening, suggesting it might be inconvenient or rushed.
Only the BJP party seems to be okay with the process.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Kerala's voter list commenced on Tuesday.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are conducting door-to-door visits to distribute and collect enumeration forms.
The administration aims to complete form distribution and collection on the same day to save time and minimize visits.
Residents' associations and advance phone calls will be utilized to aid the process.
Most political parties in Kerala, with the exception of the BJP, have voiced objections regarding the timing of the revision.
