Maharashtra Approves Freight Corridor to Vadhavan Port
Maharashtra is building a new, fast road to help trucks get goods from a new port (Vadhavan) to a big highway (Samruddhi Expressway) quickly.
This new road will be 105 km long.
It will save trucks a lot of time by skipping a longer detour.
The project is estimated to cost over Rs 2,500 crore.
This will help businesses move goods faster and support more cargo traffic.
Maharashtra approved a 105-km express freight corridor linking Vadhavan Port to the Samruddhi Expressway.
The project aims to reduce travel time to 1.5 hours, significantly decreasing the current 5-hour journey.
The corridor will bypass the current route via the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,528.90 crore, with Rs 1,500 crore from loans.
The project is expected to support increased cargo traffic from Vadhavan Port.
