Danske Bank Downgrades Danish Economic Outlook Amid Novo Nordisk Challenges
Imagine a big company in Denmark, Novo Nordisk, is like the engine driving the country's economy.
Lately, this engine isn't doing as well because of competition.
This has made the bank, Danske Bank, think that Denmark's economy won't grow as much as they previously thought.
They also adjusted Sweden and Norway's economic expectations.
Sweden will have a smaller increase in economic growth, and the central bank will cut rates again.
In Norway, the bank forecasts slightly better economic growth compared to prior expectations, especially excluding the oil sector.
This all means the countries might not have as much money to spend or create jobs as they initially expected.
The situation is influenced by international trade uncertainties as well.
Danske Bank lowered Denmark's 2025 economic growth forecast to 1.8%, from a previous 3.2% projection.
The downgrade is primarily due to reduced expectations for Novo Nordisk and revisions to historical data.
Sweden's economic growth in 2024 is expected to be 1.1%, with 2% growth in 2026.
The Swedish central bank plans another 25-basis-point rate cut.
Norway's economic growth, excluding oil and gas, is forecast to accelerate to 1.9% this year.
