India's Battery Chemicals Ecosystem Expands Rapidly

India is quickly becoming a major player in the battery chemicals industry.

A report by Nuvama says that the demand for advanced chemistry cells (ACC) in India will grow very fast, at 39% per year from 2025 to 2030.

This growth is driven by the increasing use of electric vehicles (EVs) and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The Indian government is also supporting this growth with a big incentive scheme worth ₹18,100 crore to boost domestic battery manufacturing.

Globally, the demand for ACC is also expected to grow, but India's growth rate is projected to be much higher.

The report highlights that lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries will be the most common type due to their lower cost and better safety.

This shift will increase the demand for materials like iron phosphate and graphite.

Overall, India's focus on energy transition and renewable energy is creating a big opportunity for local battery materials manufacturers.
