Businesswoman cheated of Rs 13.5 lakh in fake loan scam
A businesswoman wanted to borrow money for her business.
She searched online to see which banks offer loans.
Then a man called her on the phone.
He said he could arrange a big loan of 40 lakh rupees for her.
But he asked her to send money first as a "processing fee".
She sent him 13.5 lakh rupees in total.
After that, the man stopped answering her calls.
She understood that she had been tricked by a scammer.
Now the police are trying to find the man who cheated her.
A 35-year-old businesswoman in Thane was cheated of Rs 13.5 lakh by a cyber fraudster posing as a loan agent.
The suspect, Vijay Somaji Kavitkar, contacted her by phone after she searched online for bank credit facilities.
He allegedly offered her a business loan of Rs 40 lakh from a reputed finance firm in exchange for commission and processing fees.
After she transferred Rs 13,50,000, the suspect stopped communicating with her.
An FIR was registered at Srinagar Police Station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 318(4) and relevant IT Act provisions; the suspect was yet to be traced.
