Amsterdam's Vondelkerk Destroyed in New Year's Fire

After the New Year's celebrations in Amsterdam, a big fire started at a famous church called Vondelkerk.

The fire started shortly after midnight on Thursday, just after people were celebrating the new year.

Firefighters and police quickly went to help.

The church is very old, built in 1872, and has a neo-Gothic style.

It has been used for small events since 1977.

The fire was so big that the church tower collapsed, and the whole church is not salvageable.

The cause of the fire is not known yet.

Videos of the fire are available to watch.

In the Netherlands, fireworks are a traditional part of New Year's celebrations, but they also cause injuries and damage.

This year, two people died in fireworks accidents, and there were instances of violence.

Starting in 2025, there will be a nationwide ban on the sale of fireworks to consumers.
