China Rejects US Sanctions Pressure, Urges Restraint on Iran

China said Monday that putting more sanctions on Iran will not solve the problem.

A Chinese official named Lin Jian said sanctions could make tensions worse.

China asked all sides to avoid actions that could lead to more conflict.

The United States has threatened to punish countries that trade with Iran.

These punishments are called secondary sanctions.

China is one of Iran’s biggest oil customers.

Before the US-Israeli war with Iran, China imported more than 80% of Iranian oil.

China said rising tensions could also hurt the world economy and financial stability.
