Muslim Girl to Debut in Kathakali at Kerala Kalamandalam
Imagine a girl named Sabri who loves a special type of dance called Kathakali, which is like a story told with costumes, music, and acting.
She's been training for two years, and now she's going to perform for the first time!
What's cool is that she's the first Muslim girl to study Kathakali at her school, Kerala Kalamandalam.
Her family is very proud and supportive.
Some people are not used to this, but she doesn't let that bother her.
The school started letting girls learn Kathakali a few years ago, and many girls have joined.
Sabri N, a Muslim girl, will perform Kathakali on Vijayadashami at Kerala Kalamandalam.
This marks a first in Kerala Kalamandalam's 125-year history.
Sabri will perform the Krishna vesham, a dance form based on the Ramayana.
She enrolled in the Kathakali course in 2023 and this is her debut stage performance.
Her family supports her dream despite some criticism.
