India Achieves 50,000 NQAS Certifications for Public Healthcare
India has reached a big goal in making its public hospitals better.
The government has checked and approved 50,373 hospitals and clinics to make sure they provide good care.
This started in 2015 with just 10 hospitals, and now it includes many types of healthcare centers.
The government wants to make sure everyone, especially poor and vulnerable people, can get good healthcare without having to spend too much money.
They plan to check even more hospitals in the future to keep improving healthcare in India.
India has certified 50,373 public health facilities under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) as of December 31, 2025.
The NQAS journey began in 2015 with just 10 certified healthcare facilities, focusing initially on District Hospitals.
The framework has since expanded to include Sub-District Hospitals, Community Health Centres, and various types of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.
The introduction of Virtual Assessments has rapidly increased the number of certified facilities, reaching 50,373 by December 2025.
India aims to achieve NQAS certification for at least 50% of public healthcare facilities by March 2026.
