Nagasaki Day Event in Patna Highlights Children's Suffering in Gaza
Many years ago, a very big and scary bomb was dropped on a city in Japan called Nagasaki, and lots of children were hurt.
People all over the world said 'never again' because they didn't want children to suffer like that.
But wars are still happening today, and children are still getting hurt.
On Sunday, people in an Indian city called Patna held a meeting to remember Nagasaki Day.
They talked about children who are suffering in a place called Gaza, where there is a war.
The people at the meeting said many children in Gaza are very hungry and many cannot go to school because their schools were damaged.
They shared numbers showing that many children have died from hunger and cold.
The meeting started with peace songs that asked soldiers questions about war.
Everyone at the meeting asked people to work for peace so children everywhere can be safe.
Organizations in Patna observed Nagasaki Day with an event themed 'Children Under the Shadow of Bombs' at IMA Hall, calling for an immediate end to wars.
Dr Shakeel (also spelled Shakil), national secretary of IDPD, said 81 years after the Nagasaki atomic bombing, people in Gaza still face horrific hunger and devastation.
Citing the 2026 IPC report, more than 1.2 million people in Gaza face food insecurity, a figure that could rise above 1.4 million.
UNICEF figures cited at the event show 98% of Gaza school buildings were damaged and nearly 700,000 children have been unable to attend school for around three years.
Speakers cited a UN commission reporting 151 children died of malnutrition by October 2025, and warned that 132,000 children under five are at risk of acute malnutrition.
