College Ordered to Pay MBBS Graduate Rs 2.40 Lakh

College Ordered to Pay MBBS Graduate Rs 2.40 Lakh

A former medical student asked a college to return money he had paid as refundable deposits.

He said he had lost the original receipt but gave the college a copy and an affidavit explaining what happened.

The college refused to pay without the original.

The consumer commission said that, in this case, losing the original receipt was not enough reason to keep the money.

It noted that other students had received refunds and that the college had not shown the student owed it money.

The commission ordered the college to return Rs 2.25 lakh.

It also ordered Rs 10,000 for the trouble he experienced and Rs 5,000 for legal costs.

Altogether, the payment ordered was Rs 2.40 lakh.
