Mumbai Monsoon Health Alert: Malaria and H1N1 Cases Surge

Every year, when it rains a lot in Mumbai, some people get sick from diseases spread by mosquitoes and dirty water.

This year, doctors noticed that more people got malaria, a disease spread by certain mosquitoes.

They also saw a big jump in H1N1, which is also called swine flu and is a kind of flu.

But there is good news: fewer people got dengue, chikungunya, and Covid-19 this year compared to last year.

The city's health department, called the BMC, counted all the sick people from June 1 to August 15.

They found over 3,000 malaria cases, which is more than last year.

To stop mosquitoes, workers checked thousands of places where mosquitoes like to breed.

They also sprayed fog to kill mosquitoes in many buildings and homes.

The BMC is asking everyone to be careful and protect themselves from mosquito bites.
