Blancpain Revives Elegant 1968 Bathyscaphe In Compact Anniversary Edition
Blancpain made a new diving watch to celebrate the Bathyscaphe’s 70th anniversary.
It is based on a stylish watch from 1968.
Unlike many modern diving watches, it is fairly small at 37.4 millimetres wide.
It can still resist water down to 300 metres.
The watch has old-fashioned-looking details, but its machinery is modern.
It can keep running for about 100 hours when fully wound.
Only 300 numbered watches will be made.
The brown leather strap looks elegant, but it may not be the best choice for swimming or diving.
Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe anniversary edition returns to the 37.4mm proportions of the 1968 model.
The stainless-steel watch offers 300-metre water resistance, a unidirectional bezel and a 100-hour power reserve.
Its vintage-inspired design includes a meteor-grey dial, ceramic bezel, box-shaped sapphire crystal and white-gold markers.
The automatic Calibre 1150 features a silicon hairspring, twin barrels and an openworked 18-carat gold rotor.
Only 300 individually numbered watches will be produced, each with a Peli case and five-year warranty.
