LS Extends JPC Deadline for Simultaneous Elections
The Lok Sabha decided to give more time to a special group, the JPC, to study the idea of having all elections in India on the same day.
This committee is looking at a bill about this plan.
They are studying how to make this happen, examining the bills, and now have until the end of the Winter session in 2025 to finish their work.
The motion was moved by the committee chairman, PP Chaudhary, to allow more time for the report.
Lok Sabha extended the deadline for the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) report on 'One Nation, One Election'.
The extension allows the committee to present its findings by the first day of the last week of the Winter Session in 2025.
PP Chaudhary, Chairman of the One Nation, One Election Panel, moved the motion.
The JPC is examining the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024 and the Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
