Trump Administration to Restore Confederate Monuments
The Trump administration is bringing back two monuments from the Civil War.
One is a statue of a Confederate general, and the other is a memorial from a cemetery.
A government official is happy about this, saying they don't want to forget history.
However, another person, who helped remove the memorial, thinks this is the wrong move.
They say the monument supports slavery and segregation.
Putting the memorial back in place will take about two years and cost a lot of money.
The Trump administration plans to restore two Confederate monuments.
One monument is a statue of Confederate Gen. Albert Pike in Washington, D.C., and the other is a memorial removed from Arlington National Cemetery in 2023.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the monument will be returned to Arlington.
Retired Army Brig. Gen. Ty Seidule said restoring the monument is wrong.
Returning the Confederate memorial to Arlington will take two years and cost roughly $10 million.
