Gopavaram’s 92-Year-Old Tank Survives Through Community Care

Gopavaram has an old tank that was built in 1934.

The tank is almost two acres wide and more than 20 feet deep.

For many years, villagers used it as their main source of drinking water.

Today, purified water plants provide drinking water, but people still carefully protect the tank.

Its strong stone walls have helped it remain in good condition for 92 years.

When the tank fills, extra water moves to nearby farm fields.

It also helps keep underground water available around the village.

Villagers hope their children will protect it in the same way.
