Over 23% Maharashtra Schools Lack Functional Computers, Data Reveals
Imagine schools are like houses for learning.
In Maharashtra, a big number of these school-houses, over 23 out of every 100, don't have working computers for students.
Also, many schools don't have internet, like having no connection to the whole world of information.
This is according to a special report that looks at schools all over India.
Some places, like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, have computers in almost all their schools, which is great!
But places like Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh need to catch up.
This means many kids might not get to learn with computers as easily as others.
Over 23% of schools in Maharashtra lack functional computers, according to 2024-25 UDISE+ data.
25,258 out of 1,08,250 schools in Maharashtra do not have working computers.
30,166 schools in Maharashtra, approximately 16.76%, lack internet connectivity.
The figures encompass government, government-aided, and private schools.
Nationally, only 57.9% of schools have functional computers, with wide variations between states like Kerala (high) and Karnataka/Uttar Pradesh (lower).
