Punjab MP alleges drugs sold like toffees, demands stronger action

Vikramjit Singh Sahney says Punjab is still facing a serious drug problem.

He accused the state government of not stopping the people who supply drugs.

Some families reportedly told BJP leaders that a drug called ‘chitta’ is easy to buy.

The BJP has started a campaign called the Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra.

The campaign will travel through all of Punjab’s Assembly constituencies.

Sahney said more people went to government treatment centres for drug addiction this year.

He wants better cooperation between state and central agencies.

He also said people recovering from addiction need jobs, skills and support to rebuild their lives.
