Andhra Pradesh Targets Global Clean Energy Hub with Tata Power Project
Andhra Pradesh, a state in India, is trying to become a big clean‑energy country.
The state government is building a huge solar and wind power plant near Hosur that will make 800 megawatts of electricity.
The plant will use a lot of land and create many jobs while giving farmers money for many years.
The state wants to grow its clean energy to 160 gigawatts by 2024 and even export clean fuels to other countries.
The government is also working with schools and colleges to teach people the skills needed for these jobs.
Andhra Pradesh is attracting global investors with a Rs 5,750‑crore Tata Power renewable energy project near Hosur.
The 800‑MW hybrid solar and wind project covers 3,400 acres and is expected to create 4,000 construction jobs and lease income for 1,100 farmers for 30 years.
The state saw a 400% jump in renewable capacity in 2024 after the new government restored investor confidence.
Andhra Pradesh aims to reach 160 GW clean‑energy capacity by 2024, becoming a global producer of clean technologies and a hub for green hydrogen and ammonia exports.
The government plans to link ITIs with industry and launch an earn‑while‑you‑learn university model to address the skilled‑workforce gap.
