Allahabad HC Directs EWS Women's Quota in Recruitment
The Allahabad High Court has told the government to make a separate list for women who are from economically weaker sections (EWS).
This is for jobs as sub-inspectors and related positions.
The court said that the government mixed up the number of open category seats for women with the EWS quota, which caused fewer women from EWS to be selected than they should have been.
The court said the government did not have a good reason for doing this.
Allahabad High Court directed state government to create a separate merit list.
The order concerns the 2021 recruitment for Sub-Inspector positions.
Court ordered 20% horizontal reservation for EWS women.
The state government had clubbed open category and EWS women's reservations.
Only 34 EWS women benefited from a quota designed for 181.
