NCP to fight BJP and Shinde Sena in BMC polls 2026

NCP to fight BJP and Shinde Sena in BMC polls 2026

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, Nawab Malik, said his party will directly compete with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde in the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in 2026.

Malik mentioned that the NCP will not contest in areas with a high minority population, like Shivaji Nagar's three wards, where the minority population is 90%.

He emphasized that the main fight will be against the BJP and the Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena.

This strategy is aimed at consolidating votes and political influence in the BMC elections.

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena spokesperson Shaina NC stated that the mayor will be a 'Marathi manoos' who chants 'Vande Mataram'.

The polls for 29 municipal corporations, including Mumbai, will take place on January 15, with votes being counted on January 16.
