SBI Hikes ATM and IMPS Charges
The State Bank of India (SBI) is making some changes to how much it charges for certain transactions.
Starting in February 2026, sending money through IMPS (a quick money transfer service) will be free for amounts up to ₹25,000, but there will be small fees for larger amounts.
For example, sending between ₹25,000 and ₹1 lakh will cost ₹2 plus tax.
The bank is also changing ATM fees.
Using ATMs from other banks will now cost more, especially after you've used your free transactions.
Some special accounts, like salary accounts, will have fewer free transactions.
SBI suggests using their own ATMs to avoid extra charges.
These changes mean customers should be more careful about how they use digital and ATM services to avoid paying more.
SBI will implement new IMPS charges from February 15, 2026, with free transfers up to ₹25,000.
IMPS transfers above ₹25,000 will incur charges ranging from ₹2 to ₹10 plus GST.
Branch IMPS transfers will retain previous fees of ₹2 to ₹20 plus GST.
Certain salary and special savings accounts are exempt from new IMPS charges.
ATM transaction charges for other banks' ATMs have increased, with savings and salary accounts having fewer free transactions.
