Trump Announces Disarmament Deal for Gaza
President Trump said his group, the Board of Peace, made a deal to stop Hamas from having weapons in Gaza.
The plan says Hamas will give up its guns, Israel will leave Gaza, and a new international force will keep the area safe.
Hamas says it will only follow the plan if Israel fully leaves and keeps its promises.
Israel’s officials say the deal isn’t ready yet.
The United Nations approved the Board of Peace to run Gaza until 2027.
A meeting in Cairo will check if everyone keeps their promises.
Trump announced a Board of Peace agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza.
The deal, brokered with Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, calls for phased disarmament, Israeli withdrawal, and an International Stabilization Force.
Hamas officials say the agreement will only be implemented if Israel fully withdraws and fulfills its obligations; an Israeli official says the terms are not yet acceptable.
The UN Security Council approved the Board of Peace in November 2023, authorizing it to oversee Gaza until the end of 2027.
A Cairo meeting is scheduled to reaffirm commitments and discuss the second phase of the ceasefire roadmap, which includes Hamas disarmament and Israeli withdrawal.
