Dharavi Redevelopment Project Reaches Supreme Court Amidst Allegations
Imagine a big prize for cleaning up and rebuilding a very crowded neighborhood called Dharavi.
A company from Dubai, called SecLink, said they were the best and offered the most money to win the prize.
But then, the people in charge cancelled the first contest and changed the rules.
SecLink says these new rules were made so they couldn't enter anymore, even though they think they still met the old rules.
They took their complaint to a high court, which didn't agree with them.
Now, SecLink has gone to the highest court in India to say the contest wasn't fair.
The government says they changed the rules because they needed to include some extra land.
Another company, Adani Group, eventually got the job to rebuild Dharavi.
Dubai-based SecLink Technologies Corporation has approached the Supreme Court regarding the Dharavi redevelopment project.
SecLink alleges it was the highest bidder in the original 2018 tender but the process was cancelled and rules were changed.
The firm claims the revised criteria in the subsequent tender made them ineligible to participate.
SecLink previously filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, which was rejected.
The Dharavi redevelopment project was eventually awarded to the Adani Group, who, along with the Maharashtra government, have denied SecLink's allegations.
