City College Corridor Collapse Highlights Hyderabad Heritage Building Safety Concerns

City College Corridor Collapse Highlights Hyderabad Heritage Building Safety Concerns

A piece of the roof at Government City College in Hyderabad fell down on Monday.

No one was hurt because students were not near the spot.

The college has almost 6,000 students.

The building is 105 years old and is considered historically important.

Mir Zulfiqar Ali said heavy rain and poor maintenance weakened the roof.

He saw exposed metal rods in some parts of the building.

He also said several science laboratories were very wet and could become unsafe.

He asked the state government to quickly pay for repairs and replace damaged slabs.

The college had already faced reports of leaks and repair needs in 2021.
