US, Argentina in advanced talks on deportation agreement

The United States and Argentina are having serious talks about making a deal.

This deal would let the U.S. send immigrants who are in the country illegally to Argentina.

The New York Times reported this, but Reuters couldn't confirm it.

The U.S. government didn't say anything about it, and Argentina's foreign ministry didn't respond right away.

Argentina has been open to immigrants in the past, but their new president, Javier Milei, who is friends with U.S. President Donald Trump, wants to be stricter about who can come in.

They want to check for criminal records and make sure travelers have health insurance.

The U.S. has similar deals with other countries like South Sudan and El Salvador.
