Two Central Railway Engineers Booked for Negligence in Mumbra Train Deaths
Imagine two trains passing each other very closely on a curvy part of the track.
Because one train was super crowded, someone standing on the edge with a backpack accidentally bumped into the other train.
This caused a chain reaction, and people started falling off.
Sadly, four people died and nine were hurt.
The police are now blaming two engineers who were in charge of making sure the tracks and speed limits were safe.
However, the train company did its own investigation and said the accident was caused by the backpack and overcrowding, not by any problems with the train or the track itself, and they don't agree with blaming the engineers.
Two Central Railway engineers have been booked by the Government Railway Police (GRP) for negligence in connection with the June 9 Mumbra train accident.
The accident resulted in the deaths of four commuters and injuries to nine others who fell from overcrowded local trains.
The GRP investigation blamed the incident on the negligence of the two officials regarding track engineering and maintenance.
A Central Railway (CR) inquiry attributed the accident to a commuter's protruding backpack brushing against passengers on an opposing train on a sharp curve.
The CR inquiry ruled out technical faults, sabotage, or quarrels, emphasizing overcrowding as a significant factor and standing by its report that no officials were to blame.
