Students Protest St. Stephen's College Shorts Ban Over
St. Stephen's College in New Delhi said students could not wear shorts in classrooms, labs, and other places on campus.
Some student groups, like NSUI and KYS, said this rule is unfair and takes away their freedom.
They want the college to cancel the rule.
The college has not replied yet.
The rule also says the campus is smoke‑free and students must keep their ID cards.
St. Stephen's College issued a notice banning shorts in classrooms, labs, chapel, assembly hall, library, and dining hall.
Student groups NSUI and KYS criticized the ban as moral policing and a violation of constitutional rights.
NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar cited the Constitution and warned of ideological influence on universities.
The notice also reiterated the campus is smoke‑free, urged cleanliness, and required students to carry ID cards.
No response from St. Stephen's administration has been released.
