Monza Club Sold to US Fund; Galliani Steps Down
Imagine a soccer team called Monza is like a toy someone has.
The family who owned it, the Berlusconis, decided to sell it.
An American company, BLV, bought most of it.
The man in charge of the team, Adriano Galliani, who had been with the team for a long time, decided not to be the boss anymore.
He was born in Monza and has supported this team since he was a little boy.
The new owners want to make the team even better.
The Berlusconis had previously owned another big team, AC Milan, and won many trophies.
Galliani wants to focus on other things while giving the new owners freedom.
American fund Beckett Layne Ventures (BLV) completed the purchase of Monza.
Adriano Galliani, Monza's CEO and Vice President, turned down the presidency offered by BLV.
The Berlusconi family is leaving soccer again after the sale.
BLV acquired an 80% stake in the club; Fininvest retains 20%.
Monza was relegated to Serie B after finishing bottom last season.
