G20 Finance Meeting to Address Growth, Imbalances and Iran Sanctions

G20 Finance Meeting to Address Growth, Imbalances and Iran Sanctions

The United States is hosting a meeting for financial leaders from the world’s largest economies.

They will talk about ways to help economies grow.

They will also discuss trade imbalances, government debt and supply chains.

U.S. officials want countries to compete through innovation and productivity rather than excess production.

Business leaders are expected to discuss barriers to investment and new ideas.

The United States also wants other G20 countries to stop doing certain business with Iran.

Countries that keep those ties could face U.S. secondary sanctions.

Some officials are concerned about high U.S. debt and bond yields.

The Treasury official said bond yields could fall if inflation cools.

The meeting will take place in Asheville, North Carolina, on Monday and Tuesday.
