Indian Railways Reports 11 Accidents in FY26
Indian Railways has had 11 big accidents in the first eight months of this financial year.
This is a lot less than before.
The minister said that from 2004 to 2014, there were 1,711 accidents, which is like 171 every year.
But now, it's much safer.
They have put in new systems to stop accidents.
For example, they have special systems at 6,656 stations and 10,098 crossing gates.
They also have a system called Kavach to stop trains from crashing into each other.
It's working on some big routes like Delhi to Mumbai and Delhi to Howrah.
So, even though more people are traveling now, there are fewer accidents.
Indian Railways reported 11 consequential accidents in the first eight months of FY26.
Accidents have significantly declined from an average of 171 per year in 2004-2014 to 31 in 2024-2025 and 11 in 2025-2026.
Safety measures include electrical interlocking systems at 6,656 stations and 10,098 level crossing gates.
Complete track circuiting has been provided at 6,661 stations to enhance safety.
Kavach, an indigenous anti-collision system, has been successfully commissioned on key routes like Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah.
