India's First Accessibility Building Certification Scheme to Launch
Imagine buildings that everyone can use easily, no matter who they are!
India is creating a special system called the Purple Building Certification Scheme to make this happen.
Experts are getting together to make a checklist for buildings.
The checklist will make sure that buildings are easy for people with disabilities, older people, and pregnant women to use.
The scheme will include things like ramps, signs, and elevators.
Buildings will be rated on how well they meet these standards, so people can know which buildings are the most accessible.
This is a big step towards making sure everyone can live, work, and play together.
AMTZ is hosting a national consultation to develop India’s first Purple Building Certification Scheme.
The scheme aims to make public and private buildings accessible to people with disabilities, senior citizens, and others.
Over 50 experts in accessibility, disability rights, and urban planning will meet at AMTZ to finalize the framework.
The certification will assess buildings based on universal design principles with detailed checklists.
Purple Certification will serve as a benchmark for schools, hospitals, and other public spaces.
